How to set Home Page & Posts Page (blog)

This guide will walk you through the process of setting a custom home page and posts page (blog) for your WordPress website using the Customizer options. Follow the steps below to easily configure these pages.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard:
    • Navigate to your WordPress website’s admin login page, typically located at yourdomain.com/wp-login.php.

    • Enter your username and password, then click “Log In.”
  2. Access the Customizer:
    • Once logged in, find the “Appearance” tab on the left-hand side of the Dashboard.
    • Click on “Appearance” to expand the menu, then select “Customize.”

  3. Set the home page:
    • In the Customizer, click on “Homepage Settings.”

    • Select the “A static page” option under “Your homepage displays.”
    • In the “Homepage” dropdown menu, you can either choose an existing page or create a new one by clicking the “+ Add New Page” link. If you create a new page, give it a title like “Home”.

  4. Set the posts page (blog):
    • In the “Homepage Settings” section of the Customizer, locate the “Posts page” dropdown menu.
    • You can either choose an existing page or create a new one by clicking the “+ Add New Page” link. If you create a new page, give it a title like “Blog” or “Posts.” This page will automatically display your blog posts.

  5. Save your changes:
    • Click the “Publish” button at the top of the Customizer to save your changes and make them live on your site.

  6. Modify the Home Page template:
    • Go back to the WordPress Dashboard by clicking the “X” in the top-left corner of the Customizer.
    • Click on “Appearance > Editor” in the left-hand menu, and customize the Front Page template.
    • Modify the existing template or add your desired content.
    • Click “Save” to save your edits.

  7. Verify your changes:
    • Visit your website’s home page, and ensure that it now displays the home page content correctly.
    • Visit your website’s posts page (blog) to confirm that it now displays your blog posts.
